Project work for March / April / May 2009
Proposed Poster for a concert in KL.
This one is still very raw and will definitely need a lot of rework.

Proposal for Istana Dangdut VCD Inlay

When ever I hear the word "Dangdut", I'll imagine our very own Dangdut Queen Zaleha Hamid 'gelek' to the rhythm of this bangra inspired sound which was highly popular in Indonesia which fuses Indonesian & Indian music into one lively dancebeat.
But nowadays, It'll remind me of old, fat makciks and pakciks dancing to this dangdut beat in a sleazy bar.... and all those hanky panky buisness afterwards. Ewwwww!!!
This is the inspiration behind the design of this VCD inlay. I want to make it a bit livelier by adding some disco lightings and glitter to add glamour to it.

Wah!! Enaak Banget ni.........
Proposed cover for the 2nd Edition of this 70's Indonesian Hits compilation.
"Enaak Banget".... which literally means very delicious is the setting of the concept idea of this album cover. The audio cassette tape on the plate symbolize the 70's music scene and is still delicious enough to be lapped up by today's listeners. The whole idea is to have that 70s feel but in a fresher approach.
Wah! Enaak Banget dech!!!

UPDATED!!!!
This is the final look of the VCD cover & inlay.
Gone are the colorful background, cassette tape & fork and spoon.
Replacement : Gado-gado & Ayam penyet
Background: Wooden texture (wooden table?) & Batik napkin.

I go retro.... 70s & 80s scene Music CD cover
I was given another opportunity to design an album cover (from Life Records), a compilation album of the 70s / 80s music scene in Singapore. Growing up loving songs from the retro era, I don't have much problem coming up with the concept, but as far as possible, I want to have it looking fresh with a simple touch of retro.
The one on the left is the original artwork before the touch up.
The one on the right was given a slight color treatment.

Konsert 38 thn Ilham Pujangga Ismail Haron DVD
What an honor it was to be given the opportunity to design the cover for our very own prolific and evergreen Singer - Ismail Haron. I wanted to do something 'bombastic' and artful one, but when I go thru the snapshots of the concert, I feel I don't need to do much because this man is a 'powerhouse' and you can already feel it by just looking at the photo itself. What I did most is the logotype for the album itself. I just need to capture the feel of watching Ismail Haron perform on stage.... with his poetic lyrics and powerful voice.

Hits Swee Swee..... Sweeeet!
I was again given the honour to design another music compilation album by Life Records (S). This one is a compilation of hits song by local Malay talents and will hit the store by december 2008.
Life records always have this thing about giving quirky yet catchy title to its album. This time is Hits Swee Swee! If I'm not wrong, swee means just nice, good, pretty... or something to that effect..
Playing with the chinese word "Swee"..... I decided to have a bit of a chinese feel to it, but not too much until potential buyer (Malay ) may be misled into thinking this is a chinese music album. I've included some chinese elements & motifs. The speaker on the background is a replacement of a "Pak Kua" or shield used by chinese "Feng Shui" geomancer.
Overall, I'm quite happy with the end result... but is very sure there will be major tweak here and there before this album hits the store.
