Digital printing is broad in it's definition, but in reference to the Indigo/FujiXerox it is a printing process where all electronic documents are transferred digitally from workstations directly to the press. Film output, film assembly and plate processing are not part of the workflow as in conventional offset printing, and the cost for those materials have been eliminated.
What are some of the advantages of digital printing?

- Cost effective - material and labor charges are eliminated at both the pre-press and printing stages.
- Accurate proofing - each sheet that comes off the press is exactly what will be printed.
- Faster turn-around time. Fewer steps in the workflow and accurate proofing speed up the process.
- Print on demand - you no longer have to store brochures, pamphlets or information. You can print what you need, when you need it without having to store or recycle outdated material.
- Personalization - adding personalized elements to your projects increase reader retention.
When should I choose Digital Printing?

- Small quantities - 1 to 5,000
- Single page documents - up to 4 pages
- Process color or spot conversion
- Variable data/ personalization
Lower quantities, printing or reprinting when you need it, consistent color from print to print, all these factors add to the advantages of digital printing.
